News Flash: Tony Blair Smokes Crack!

Serious. All I can figure is ol' Tony was high as a motherfucking kite yesterday, because the insane crap that came out of his mouth defies any other explanation.

Now, leaving aside the fact that this was the tail end of a statement that basically said, "The more we get our asses kicked, the more important it is that we go and get our asses kicked some more," I am was just really amazed to hear the following:
[T]he problem we have is very, very simple...the reason they [the terrorists/insurgents] have been fighting is not, as we can see, because Iraqi people don't believe in democracy, [or the] Iraqi people don't want liberty. It is precisely because they fear the Iraqi people do want democracy; the Iraqi people do want liberty.

Granted, that's just vintage 9/11 horseshit ["They hate our freedom. They hate freedom in general. They particularly hate Freedom Fries."] which we know--and have known for quite some time--is simply not true. Any doubts? Just ask the fucking Pentagon.

No, what I think was fairly incontrovertible evidence that the Prime Goddamn Minister of a G8 nation was under some serious fucking influence was this bit:

And if the idea became implanted in the minds of people in the Arab and Muslim world that democracy was as much their right as our right, where to these terrorists go?

What do they do? How do they recruit? How do they say, America is the evil Satan? How do they say, the purpose of the West is to spoil your lands, wreck your religion, take your wealth? How can they say that? They can't say that.

No, you're right Tony. Of course that couldn't say that. It would become physically fucking impossible for these people to open their mouths and make the accusations that people in democratic, relatively terrorist-free societies all over the fucking world make every single day of the year:
Oh, and there's one Tony forgot to mention:
Now, I'm not saying that any of these are true (Oh, Heavens, no. God forbid I suggest that any of those are true. What--do I look French?), but those claims are being made, those claims have (ahem) a certain amount of credibility, and they have absolutely fuck-all to do with terrorism or democracy. Those claims are being made because there are factions in the United States of America that are doing a hell of a lot to convince the world, Islamic and otherwise, that they are, in fact, true.

And they let this man rule a nation state?

Here's some free advice, Tony. Lay off the crack. Or, on the odd chance that that's not your problem, pull your head out of your ass and take a look around the world. If Iraq turns into a flourishing free-market secular democracy (which I expect it to do right after monkeys fly out of my ass), you know what they're going to have? They're going to have a free fucking press. And do you know what that press is going to say? It's going to say that Americans are out to conquer the Arab nations, plunder their wealth, crush their religion, and turn their country into a forward base for imperialism. Because that's what a hell of a lot of these people believe, largely thanks to you and W's asinine policies.

At which point, you're going to find yourself wishing that some obliging terrorists would come by and car bomb the newspapers.

I couldn't agree more about Tony Blair, I expect to see this on the Daily show soon.

BTW, I included your blog at http://blogslides.com/austin ... if you have a good description of your blog I'll include it in my top bar.

I read your blog regularly because I agree with a lot of what you say.

Nicely done. Hopefully Blair really is smoking crack and one of these days he'll run out, his head will clear, and he'll start a press conferency by saying "wtf? Did I really say that shit?"

Hey,

Thought you might be interested in knowing (and letting others know through your blog or otherwise) about a Texas Freedom Network speaker event featuring Chris Mooney, the author of “The Republican War on Science.” You can find more information about TFN and the event at http://www.tfn.org/faithandfreedom/houston/.

The event will be held in Houston at Rice University on June 22 and will be free to the public.

Thanks in advance for your help!
